Women's Rights vs Islam

from Fortress Australia

Female Muslim Readers - IMPORTANT - Please forward to all female Muslim readers
Should you choose to leave Islam, or marry a non-Muslim, please be advised of the following:

YOU ARE NOT A MAN’S PROPERTY. If you don’t want to have sex with your husband, that’s OK. He can’t force you. If he does, it’s considered rape. For the first time in your life, YOU are in control of your own body.

MEN ARE NOT ALLOWED TO BEAT YOU.
Men, including husbands, are not allowed to beat or hit you as it’s illegal and immoral. No more living in fear. If someone hits you, you call the police and he will be arrested and go on trial, not you. It’s NOT your fault.

YOU ARE A MANS EQUAL AND JUST AS VALUABLE. You are just as valuable and equal as your husband. If you don’t want to cook, don’t. If you don’t want to do dishes, don’t. If you don’t want to serve him, don’t. Chances are, your husband will help cook, clean, raise the children etc.

YOU CAN FREELY STUDY WHENEVER AND WHATEVER YOU LIKE.
The majority of university students in many countries including America are women.

YOU CAN WEAR WHATEVER YOU WANT.
God created women as beautiful art. Beauty wasn’t meant to be seen only by one.

I am a muslim woman and all my friends and i already have these rights granted to us by Islam. What the media depicts is a fallacious stereotype. Since about 1500 years ago, Women in Islam were given rights while the rest of the world degraded them. If you do your research, you find that in the Quran, Hadith (narrations and traditions of the prophet) and the Sunnah give women the right to property, life, divorce, protection, education, religion, equality, etc. We are given the choice of wearing what we want. Muslim women often choose to cover up and be modest and not be a mere piece of meat to be examined by men on the street. We are like jewels hidden up. If you go to a jewelry store, you often find that the most expensive and valuable jewelry is kept locked up hidden and not on public display. Why do you criticize our choice of clothes? Just a reminder: All the present-day "MUSLIM" countries are not following the Quran or the true teachings of Islam. The Prophet (s) said that the best of you is the one who is the best to his wife. A woman is highly respected and honoured in islam. The acts of violence and injustice toward Muslim Women is often because of culture, not our religion. Plz do your research before making any assumptions.

I base my comments on reality..in Islamic nations - women are abused and treated as property.

If Islam is so fair to women:
Why is a man allowed 4 wives and a women only 1 husband?
Why are women given a stiff sentence for being a victim of rape and the rapist (men) allowed to walk free because there were not 4 men who testified as witnesses to the rape?
