Electoral College

The Electoral College is a time tested way of electing the President of the United States.

It is designed to ensure that no region is ignored by the candidates.

Yes, the most popular candidate can and has lost the election.

A candidate that focuses solely on the urban areas of the nation can 'win' the popular vote while ignoring the other areas of this nation. While the other candidate, who focuses on the whole nation wins the election.

The only change I would suggest to this system is to award electoral votes by congressional district plus 2 for the statewide winner, the District of Columbia would be reduced to a single electoral vote.

Red State: Blue State

Professor Joseph Olson of Hemline University School of Law, St. Paul,
Minnesota, points out some interesting facts concerning the 2000
Presidential election:

Number of States won by:

Gore: 21
Bush: 29

Square miles of land won by:
Gore: 580,000
Bush: 2,427,000

Population of counties won by:
Gore: 127 million
Bush: 143 million

Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by:
Gore: 13.2
Bush: 2.1

Professor Olson adds: "In aggregate , the map of the territory Bush
won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of this great
country. Gore's territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in
government-owned tenements and living off various forms of government
welfare..

A Letter to the British, from a Brit

via Gates of Viena

A Letter to my People

“The time has come”,
the Walrus said, “to talk of many thing.” So, with apologies to Lewis
Carroll and to the Bard, I ask, “Friends, Britons, countrymen, lend me
your ears and consider this: You are under attack; your enemies are
both within and without and their malignant intent is to take either
your mind or your life.”

Then I ask you to look around your
homeland and decide for yourself whether the statement above is true or
false. If it is false, or if this is the future you want, or are
prepared to tolerate, do nothing.

But if there are those of you
who see the truth of it, and choose to remain free men and women, then
you must stand up and be counted, for time is running out. Perhaps, if
enough of us do, we may find that we are not as few as our voices in
the wilderness would make it appear, but that our lack of cohesion, of
organisation, of mutual support merely substantiates the old axiom
‘divide and conquer’.

We must somehow join together in
resistance, become one demographic, one voice, then raise that voice in
furious harmony and make it heard across these Islands until its
resonance shatters the tidal wave of atavism that engulfs us. If we do
nothing, then atrocity will reign, our grandsons will only be able to
count to seventy-two and they will be doomed to bang their heads on the
floor in mindless obeisance to an alien deity as they await their
transition to a non-existent eternity of debauchery.

.......

We must become ‘The Non-Muslim Council of Britain’ - or cease to exist at all.

So,
tonight, when you kiss your children and put them to bed, then go
downstairs and await all of your tomorrows you must understand that you
still have a choice. You can do nothing or you can decide to act,
hopefully to act now with a unity of purpose beyond Political Party,
Class or Gender, for the sake of those upstairs.

I beg you, in
the name of freedom, our freedom, to dig deep, Britain, and to think
hard; Philippi or Armageddon? Philippi will not be easy, nor will it
come about without sacrifice and commitment, but it is survivable.
Islam is not.

Sincerely,
Seneca III

AllBull Piece (of sh!t) Prize

The Nobel Peace Prize should be renamed after they honored Al Gore for his Global Warming lies.

It should be called the “AllBull Piece (of Sh*t) Prize.

But the committee is too terrified of Islamofacists to actually award someone like Ali Hurst. (note to Alan Colmes, I do mean to insult all the Muslims)

Muslims who stand silent while other Muslims slaughter innocent men, women, and child are guilty of aiding and abetting those crimes.

Democrats are Facists

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Henry Waxman is using his staff, using our tax dollars, to illegally aid his fellow Democrats and himself on the campaign trail:

Rep. Henry Waxman has asked his investigative staff to begin compiling
reports on Limbaugh, and fellow radio hosts Sean Hannity and Mark Levin
based on transcripts from their shows, and to call in Federal
Communications Commission chairman Kevin Martin to discuss the
so-called "Fairness Doctrine."

"Limbaugh isn't the only one who needs to be made uncomfortable
about what he says on the radio," says a House leadership source. "We
don't have as big a megaphone as these guys, but this all
political, and we'll do what we can to gain the advantage. If we can
take them off their game for a while, it will help our folks out there
on the campaign trail.
"
Rep Waxman wants to control all broadcasting -
He doesn't give a damn about the Constitution.
He doesn't give a damn about our rights to Free Speech,
especially about our right to Free Political Speech.

Rep Waxman and his fellow Democrats want CONTROL - ABSOLUTE CONTROL.

Therefore they OPPOSE
Free Speech

Therefore they SUPPORT
Gun Control

Because they want a silent defenseless population to TAX into POVERTY.

Hillary Clinton founded Media Matters.
So, Media Matters could attack and silence conservative voices.

VOTE REPUBLICAN if you want FREEDOM.

Thanks Bill

from SteelJawScribe

Also of note, this launch was the
60th straight successful launch of the Long March series since several
failures in the 1995-96 timeframe. Notably, that improvement came on
the heels of information and technology transfer supplied by US
companies in the wake of the loss of their commercial sateliites in
those launches.

Did Chinese campaign contributions help speed this transfer of technology?

France is still burning

The French 'youth' are rioting and burning cars - again. But the French government will not take strong action to protect its honest citizens from the barbarians.

French interior minister Michèle Alliot-Marie immediately exonerated
the young savages who reduced into ashes everything that surrounded
them in Saint-Dizier, Eastern France last Thursday. She said:
“Responsibility
is not one person’s matter. Responsibility is a chain that involves
everybody: education, municipalities, associations, the police, firemen
and justice.”

With the attitude - that the individual is not responsible for their actions - France will never stop burning.

These out of control 'youths' (Muslims) need a severe beatdown, respect for the laws of France needs to be impressed upon them.

But it will not happen.

Free Myanmar - Birmania Libera - Burma Frei

Free Burma

[The following is copied in full from here, this was passed on by MVRWC who found it via a Technorati search on Burma.]

Help the People of Burma — Post this on Your Blog!

Note: This is a new kind of online protest that uses blogs to spread a petition globally. To participate, just add your blog by following the instructions in this blog post.

This not an issue of partisan politics, this is an issue of basic human rights and democracy. Please help to prevent a human tragedy in Burma by adding your blog and asking others to do the same.

By passing this meme on through the blogosphere hopefully we can generate more awareness and avert a serious tragedy. As concerned world-citizens this something we bloggers can do to help.

How to participate:

1. Copy this entire post to your blog, including this special number: 1081081081234

2. After a few days, you can search Google for the number 1081081081234 to find all blogs that are participating in this protest and petition. Note: Google indexes blogs at different rates, so it could take longer for your blog to show up in the results.

THE SITUATION IN BURMA AND WHY IT MATTERS TO ALL OF US

There is no press freedom in Burma and the government has started turning off the Internet and other means of communication, so it is difficult to get news out. Individuals on the ground have been sending their day-by-day reports to the BBC, and they are heartbreaking. I encourage you to read these accounts to see for yourself what is really going on in Burma. Please include this link in your own blog post.

The situation in Burma is increasingly dangerous. Hundreds of thousands of unarmed peaceful protesters, including monks and nuns, are risking their lives to march for democracy against an unpopular but well-armed military dictatorship that will stop at nothing to continue its repressive rule. While the generals in power and their families are literally dripping in gold and diamonds, the people of Burma are impoverished, deprived of basic human rights, cut off from the rest of the world, and increasingly under threat of violence.

This week the people of Burma have risen up collectively in the largest public demonstrations against the ruling Junta in decades. It’s an amazing show of bravery, decency, and democracy in action. But although these protests are peaceful, the military rulers are starting to crack down with violence. Already there have been at least several reported deaths, and hundreds of critical injuries from soldiers beating unarmed civilians to the point of death.

The actual fatalities and injuries are probably far worse, but the only news we have is coming from individuals who are sneaking reports past the authorities. Unfortunately it looks like a large-scale blood-bath may ensue — and the victims will be mostly women, children, the elderly and unarmed monks and nuns.

Contrary to what the Burmese, Chinese and Russian governments have stated, this is not merely a local internal political issue, it is an issue of global importance and it affects the global community. As concerned citizens, we cannot allow any government anywhere in the world to use its military to attack and kill peacefully demonstrating, unarmed citizens.

In this modern day and age violence against unarmed civilians is unacceptable and if it is allowed to happen, without serious consequences for the perpetrators, it creates a precedent for it to happen again somewhere else. If we want a more peaceful world, it is up to each of us to make a personal stand on these fundamental issues whenever they arise.

Please join me in calling on the Burmese government to negotiate peacefully with its citizens, and on China to intervene to prevent further violence. And please help to raise awareness of the developing situation in Burma so that hopefully we can avert a large-scale human disaster there.

May Pigs Piss on Muhammad

The issues here go beyond the right of cartoonists to offend people. They go to the heart of repression in much of the Muslim world. Islamists and authoritarian governments now routinely use accusations of blasphemy to repress writers, journalists, political dissidents and, perhaps politically most important, religious reformers.

On Sept. 22, three political dissidents in Iran, Ehsan Mansouri, Majid Tavakoli and Ahmad Ghassaban, were put on trial for writing articles against “Islamic holy values.” Iran’s most prominent dissident, Akbar Ganji, was himself imprisoned on charges including “spreading propaganda against the Islamic system.” In August, Taslima Nasreen, who had to flee Bangladesh for her life because her feminist writings were accused of being “against Islam,” was investigated in India for hurting Muslims’ “religious sentiments.”

The Code

I will never forget that I am an American, fighting for freedom,
responsible for my actions, and dedicated to the principles which made my
country free. I will trust in my God and in the United States of America.

Proud Aussie

I love it! Are you proud to be an Aussie?

From Australian Flag:

We need to be proud of our country and let
everybody know that “we love Australia”

An incident occurred in a supermarket recently, when the following was witnessed:

A Muslim woman dressed in a Burkha (A black gown & face mask) was
standing with her shopping in a queue at the checkout.

When it was her turn to be served, and as she reached the cashier, she
made a loud remark about the Australian Flag lapel pin, which the female
cashier was wearing on her blouse.

The cashier reached up and touched the pin and said, “Yes, I always wear
it proudly. My son serves abroad with the forces and I wear it for him”.

The Muslim woman then asked the cashier when she was going to stop
bombing and killing her countrymen, explaining that she was Iraqi.

At that point, a Gentleman standing in the queue stepped forward, and
interrupted with a calm and gentle voice, and said to the Iraqi woman:

“Excuse me, but hundreds of thousands of men and women, just like this
ladies son have fought and sacrificed their lives so that people just
like YOU can stand here, in Australia, which is MY country and allow you to
blatantly accuse an innocent check- out cashier of bombing YOUR
countrymen”.

“It is my belief that if you were allowed to be as outspoken as that in
Iraq which you claim to be YOUR country, then we wouldn’t need to be
fighting there today”.

“However - now that you have learned how to speak out and criticise the
Australian people who have afforded you the protection of MY country,
I will gladly pay the cost of a ticket to help you pay your way back to
Iraq”.

“When you get there, and if you manage to survive for being as outspoken
as you are here in Australia, then you should be able to help straighten
out the mess which YOUR Iraqi countrymen have got you into in the first
place, which appears to be the reason that you have come to MY country to
avoid.”

Apparently the queue cheered and applauded.
IF YOU AGREE.. Pass this on to all of your proud Aussie friends..

*!*!*!*!*!*!*

I am an American, and Proud of it.

But I would gladly stand and defend the FREE PEOPLE OF AUSTRALIA.

Who helps African-Americans?

Democrats
with handouts (Welfare, Food Stamps, etc.) that lead to dependency on the government.
who preach, blame others for your misfortune.

or

Republicans
whose party was formed to end slavery.

Republicans also have supported legislation favorable to blacks, often against intense Democratic headwinds:

In
1865, Congressional Republicans unanimously backed the 13th Amendment,
which made slavery unconstitutional. Among Democrats, 63 percent of
senators and 78 percent of House members voted: "No."

In 1866,
94 percent of GOP senators and 96 percent of GOP House members approved
the 14th Amendment, guaranteeing all Americans equal protection of the
law. Every congressional Democrat voted: "No."

February 28, 1871: The GOP Congress passed the Enforcement Act, giving black voters federal protection.

February 8, 1894: Democratic President Grover Cleveland and a
Democratic Congress repealed the GOP's Enforcement Act, denying black
voters federal protection.

January 26, 1922: The U.S. House
adopted Rep. Leonidas Dyer's (R., Mo.) bill making lynching a federal
crime. Filibustering Senate Democrats killed the measure.

May
17, 1954: As chief justice, former three-term governor Earl Warren (R.,
Calif.) led the U.S. Supreme Court's desegregation of government
schools via the landmark Brown v. Board of Education decision. GOP
President Dwight Eisenhower's Justice Department argued for Topeka,
Kansas's black school children. Democrat John W. Davis, who lost a
presidential bid to incumbent Republican Calvin Coolidge in 1924,
defended "separate but equal" classrooms.

September 24, 1957:
Eisenhower deployed the 82nd Airborne Division to desegregate Little
Rock's government schools over the strenuous resistance of Governor
Orval Faubus (D., Ark.).

May 6, 1960: Eisenhower signs the
GOP's 1960 Civil Rights Act after it survived a five-day, five-hour
filibuster by 18 Senate Democrats.

July 2, 1964: Democratic
President Johnson signed the 1964 Civil Rights Act after former
Klansman Robert Byrd's 14-hour filibuster and the votes of 22 other
Senate Democrats (including Tennessee's Al Gore, Sr.) failed to scuttle
the measure. Illinois Republican Everett Dirksen rallied 26 GOP
senators and 44 Democrats to invoke cloture and allow the bill's
passage. According to John Fonte in the January 9, 2003, National
Review, 82 percent of Republicans so voted, versus only 66 percent of
Democrats.

True, Senator Barry Goldwater (R., Ariz.) opposed
this bill the very year he became the GOP's presidential
standard-bearer. However, Goldwater supported the 1957 and 1960 Civil
Rights Acts and called for integrating Arizona's National Guard two
years before Truman desegregated the military. Goldwater feared the
1964 Act would limit freedom of association in the private sector, a
controversial but principled libertarian objection rooted in the First
Amendment rather than racial hatred.

June 29, 1982: President Ronald Reagan signed a 25-year extension of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

The Republican party also is the home of numerous "firsts." Among them:

Until 1935, every black federal legislator was Republican. America's
first black U.S. Representative, South Carolina's Joseph Rainey, and
our first black senator, Mississippi's Hiram Revels, both reached
Capitol Hill in 1870. On December 9, 1872, Louisiana Republican
Pinckney Benton Stewart "P.B.S." Pinchback became America's first black
governor.

August 8, 1878: GOP supply-siders may hate to admit
it, but America's first black Collector of Internal Revenue was former
U.S. Rep. James Rapier (R., Ala.).

October 16, 1901: GOP
President Theodore Roosevelt invited to the White House as its first
black dinner guest Republican educator Booker T. Washington. The
pro-Democrat Richmond Times newspaper warned that consequently, "White
women may receive attentions from Negro men." As Toni Marshall wrote in
the November 9, 1995, Washington Times, when Roosevelt sought
reelection in 1904, Democrats produced a button that showed their
presidential nominee, Alton Parker, beside a white couple while
Roosevelt posed with a white bride and black groom. The button read:
"The Choice Is Yours."

GOP presidents Gerald Ford in 1975 and
Ronald Reagan in 1982 promoted Daniel James and Roscoe Robinson to
become, respectively, the Air Force's and Army's first black four-star
generals.

November 2, 1983: President Reagan established Dr.
Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday as a national holiday, the first such
honor for a black American.

President Reagan named Colin Powell
America's first black national-security adviser while GOP President
George W. Bush appointed him our first black secretary of state.

President G.W. Bush named Condoleezza Rice America's first black female
NSC chief, then our second (consecutive) black secretary of State. Just
last month, one-time Klansman Robert Byrd and other Senate Democrats
stalled Rice's confirmation for a week. Amid unanimous GOP support, 12
Democrats and Vermont Independent James Jeffords opposed Rice — the
most "No" votes for a State designee since 14 senators frowned on Henry
Clay in 1825.

"The first Republican I knew was my father, and he
is still the Republican I most admire," Rice has said. "He joined our
party because the Democrats in Jim Crow Alabama of 1952 would not
register him to vote. The Republicans did. My father has never
forgotten that day, and neither have I."

Quote

We are
the hope of the Iraqi people. They want what everyone else wants in life:
safety, security, somewhere to call home. They want a country that is safe
to raise their children in. Not a place where their children will be
abducted, raped and murdered if they do not comply with the terrorists
demands. They want to live on, rebuild and prosper. And America has given
them the opportunity, but only if we stay true to the cause and see it to
its end. But the country must unite in this endeavor...we cannot place the
burden on our military alone. We must all stand up and fight, whether in
uniform or not. And supporting us is more than sticking yellow ribbon
stickers on your cars. It's supporting our President, our troops and our
cause.

Right
now, the burden is all on the American soldiers. Right now, hope rides
alone. But it can change, it must change. Because there is only failure and
darkness ahead for us as a country, as a people, if it doesn't.

Let's
stop all the political nonsense, let's stop all the bickering, let's stop
all the bad news and let's stand and fight!

Isn't that what America
is about anyway?

Respect is Earned

comment by a Columbia University Student
Gazelle Javantash, 27, a graduate student at SIPA who was born in Iran,
but grew up in California, said she believed that Mr. Ahmadinejad “felt
attacked.” She said, “He talked about feeling disrespected. Respect is
a huge thing in Persian culture. They could have gotten more out of him
if they showed more respect in the beginning.”

If the Persians want respect, they need to show respect -
Persians needs to respect life, all human life - they do not.

Mr Ahmadinejad wants to wipe Israel off the map, he wants to commit genocide against the Jews.. He deserves no respect.

Iran supplies money, weapons and training to terrorists, terrorists who kill innocent men, women and children. Terrorists in Iraq, Lebanon, Gaza. Terrorists who don't care who they kill.
